Eligibility… Affordability… Availability …these are just a few of the words to describe the uncertainty of our future healthcare system. Healthcare seems to be at the top of everyone’s list as a topic of discussion and concern. The many unknowns being presented by the upcoming Affordable Healthcare Act have made many uneasy about the availability of “quality” healthcare.
One thing for certain, is that the Clearwater Free Clinic will continue to provide caring, compassionate, quality healthcare to the uninsured residents of Pinellas County. The demand for Clinic services remains strong. Last year, with your help, the CFC provided:
- $3.5 million of healthcare services to our community.
- 14,000 patient visits
- 34,600 courses of medications
- $5 of services for every $1 donated.
This efficient use of your contributions enables us to continue to attract broad-based support from all areas of our community, from our valued healthcare partners like Morton Plant, Mease Dunedin and Mease Countryside Hospitals to individual patient donations. We need your help to continue our mission. The CFC does not receive any government funding or support from the United Way. Our funding base continues to be “grass-roots” based contributions.
We have recently identified two major areas of focus that need to be addressed by program development and resources; mental health and obesity. These two serious health issues are prevalent in today’s society and widespread in the patients we see. We feel with proper attention and focus we can significantly improve the overall health and wellbeing of our community. However, the addition of any program or scope of services requires funding.
Please join us in our fight to provide healthcare solutions to the many deserving “working poor” of our community. Working together, we will make a difference.
Please consider making a meaningful donation to the Clearwater Free Clinic’s 2013-2014 Annual Fund. Remember…for every dollar you give, a patient receives $5 of healthcare benefit.
Thank you for your generous support over the past 36 years!
