Your Health Shouldn’t Wait: Starting with a Wellness Visit at Clearwater Free Clinic
For many people without insurance, healthcare becomes something you only think about when something is wrong.
At Clearwater Free Clinic, we believe it should be the opposite.
If you’re an uninsured resident of mid/north Pinellas County, your health deserves attention before problems start. That’s why we now offer annual wellness check-ups—designed to help you stay ahead, not catch up.
What is a Wellness Visit?
A wellness visit is about understanding your health today so you can protect it tomorrow.
It’s not just about treating illness—it’s about prevention, early detection, and building a plan that supports your long-term health.
During your visit, our team may:
Review your medical history and current health
Check vital signs like blood pressure and weight
Screen for conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses
Talk through lifestyle factors like nutrition, activity, and stress
Identify next steps, including labs, referrals, or follow-up care if needed
For many of our patients, this becomes the starting point for taking control of their health.
Why It Matters—Especially Without Insurance
Without regular care, small health concerns can turn into serious issues. We often meet patients who have gone years without seeing a provider—managing chronic conditions on their own, or waiting until something becomes urgent.
A wellness visit changes that trajectory. It gives you a clear picture of your health, a plan moving forward, and a care team that’s here to support you over time.
How to Get Started at Clearwater Free Clinic
Getting started looks a little different than a typical doctor’s office—but we’ll guide you every step of the way.
Step 1: Complete a New Patient Inquiry Form
This helps us understand your situation and confirm eligibility, since we serve low-income, uninsured Pinellas County residents.
Step 2: Connect with Our Team
Our New Patient Coordinator will follow up to walk through next steps and answer any questions.
Step 3: Schedule Your In-Person Registration Appointment
This visit is focused on completing required paperwork and officially enrolling you as a patient.
Step 4: Schedule Your First Medical Appointment
For many new patients, this first visit will be a wellness-focused appointment—giving us a full picture of your health and helping us build your care plan.
Our approach is always guided by one question: What is right for the patient?
Care That Goes Beyond One Visit
Your health journey doesn’t stop after your first appointment. If additional care is needed, we help coordinate everything—from lab work to specialty referrals—through our network of community partners. Whether you’re managing a condition or simply staying on track, our goal is to make sure you have consistent, ongoing support.
