FindHelp.org: A Valuable Resource for Our Patients
As the Case Manager at Clearwater Free Clinic, I’m always looking for ways to connect our patients with resources that can make their lives easier. One of the best tools I’ve come across is FindHelp.org, a website that helps people find free or reduced-cost services in their area, like food, housing, financial assistance, healthcare, and transportation.
What is FindHelp.org?
FindHelp.org is an incredibly easy-to-use website where anyone can enter their ZIP code and instantly browse resources available in their community. I often recommend it to our patients because it simplifies the process of finding support.
If you don’t have internet access at home, don’t worry! We have a tablet kiosk in our clinic’s lobby, and I or another staff member would be happy to assist you in navigating the site.
Why Create an Account on FindHelp.org?
While you can search the site without signing up, I highly recommend creating an account because it allows you to:
Set personal goals based on your needs (like medical care, transportation, or financial help).
Track applications for different assistance programs.
Receive updates from service providers.
How You Can Use FindHelp.org
Each organization on FindHelp.org has a different way of connecting people to their services:
Some allow direct applications through the website.
Others provide links to external applications or list a phone number to call.
For example, if you’re interested in receiving care at Clearwater Free Clinic, you can find us on FindHelp.org, click “Apply Here,” and start the screening process. Once you submit your information, we’ll review your eligibility and get back to you.
A Real-World Example
Let’s say you live in Dunedin and need to find a food pantry closer to home. You can enter your ZIP code on FindHelp.org, select the food category, and see a list of options near you. One of those might be Dunedin Cares Food Pantry, which provides food to households experiencing food insecurity. Clicking on it will show you:
Eligibility requirements
What documents you need (like a photo ID for first-time visitors)
Contact info and website
A “See Next Steps” button to get more details via email or phone
Don’t Overlook Unexpected Help
Many people don’t realize just how many resources are available to them. Even if you think there’s nothing out there for you, I still recommend taking a look. I recently helped a patient who had no idea they could get free dog food and veterinary care for their pet—until we found a program for it on FindHelp.org. They were able to apply directly through their phone!
FindHelp.org is a great resource that can make a real difference. I encourage you to check it out and see if there’s something that can help make life a little easier for you or someone you know!
